American Two Shot is a clothing store that reads as part gallery, part personal closet, part pretense for a group of friends to have a place to hang out.

The Japanese basics brand Uniqlo, betting on a comeback for the American consumer, is taking advantage of recession-lowered rents to expand in the United States.

Nelly Furtado attended the 2012 Billboard Music Awards yesterday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas, wearing a crochet dress, bright aqua eye makeup and oversized statement earrings.

The 33-year-old Canadian singer-songwriter wore a beaded Alberta Ferretti white crochet dress (from the Spring 2012 collection), which partially showed her black bra. She paired this up with a matching ivory crocheted statement necklace, nude Brian Atwood shoes and edgy metallic silver earrings that looked off with the whole ensemble.

The only thing we liked about Nelly Furtado’s outfit for the Billboard Music Awards was the bright pop of color with her aqua eyeshadow and her hairdo for the event. Wearing her black hair in a pompadour, Nelly finished off with light pink lips and blush, black eyeliner and highlighting around the eyes.

Dresses weren’t the only thing that made headlines at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas yesterday. The hairstyles of Alicia Keys, Brandy Norwood, Zooey Deschanel, and Miley Cyrus also received some spotlight at the white carpet event. Check out whose hairdo received great feedback and the ones that failed to impress.

First up is Alicia Keys, who performed with Stevie Wonder at the event. She wore a long-sleeved Azzedine Alaïa haute couture gown with dark magenta patterns, Brian Atwood heels, Jennifer Fisher rings and Repossi rosegold and diamond earrings. Although the dress was a good choice for Keys, her hair good the most compliments as the thick braid woven around her head was definitely head-turning.

Brandy Norwood was dressed in a Herve Leger by Max Azria mini dress (from the Spring 2012 collection), which featured a plunging neckline and metallic design. She paired this up with gold Christian Louboutin “Lady Peep” platform sandals, a metallic leopard clutch box and moonstone rings, bangles and rosegold earrings. Brandy finished off with bold blue eyeshadow, but we just love that she added drama to her mini dress with those voluminous curls.

Zooey Deschanel looked like her usual adorable self in a sleeveless silver-embellished Moschino cocktail dress (from the Fall 2012 collection) and a pair of her handy black tights. She finished off with open toe Miu Miu pumps and accessorized with horn-shaped drop earrings. The only thing that excited us with Zooey’s attire was the retro ponytail with blunt bangs that she wore to the event.

We don’t know where to start with Miley Cryus’ ensemble. She turned a white double-breasted blazer from Jean Paul Gautlier’s Spring 2012 collection into a mini dress, then finished off with Christian Louboutin “Armadillo Bride ” sandals, Jacquie Aiche jewelry and a nose ring. Then the hair… Miley teased her dark blonde hair into a 60s-inspired ‘do, which we think failed to inspire and made her look older than she is.

At the 2012 Billboard Music Awards held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas yesterday, men and women from the music industry stepped out on the white carpet wearing their best ensembles, but we think Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood was most prepared for the event. Check out what these ladies wore to the Billboard Music Awards…

First up is the 22-year-old Taylor Swift who wore a red sleeveless Elie Saab chiffon gown (from the pre-Fall 2012 collection), which featured a lace panel bodice and a thigh-high slit. She paired up the dress with matching Elie Saab shoes and accessorized with diamond and platinum Neil Lane leaf earrings and matching ring. Wearing her blonde hair down with her trademark blunt bangs, Taylor wore burgundy eyeshadow and pink lips. Pretty good ensemble for someone who received Billboard’s “Woman of the Year.”

Carrie Underwood wore something we picture Taylor Swift would wear, but the American Idol went with a princessy outfit that included a silver Oscar de la Renta gown (from the Fall 2012 collection) with a skirt made of several layers of tulle and a tightly spun bodice. She paired the frothy gown with silver Jimmy Choo “Luna” open-toe pumps and accessorized with pearl and crystal sapphire embellished Oscar de la Renta “Cara” vanity case.

Diane Kruger opened up the Cannes Film Festival with a bang and continued her momentum of stunning ensembles in the past few days, including her appearance at the Haiti Carnival benefit for the J/P HRO, Artists For Peace and Justice & Happy Hearts Fund hosted by Armani Friday evening during Cannes Film Festival.

The 35-year-old actress wore a sleeveless navy Jason Wu asymmetrical gown (a sneak peak from the Resort 2013 collection), which featured a sequin-embellished collar, a draped navy chiffon sash, and black embroidered Chantilly lace tromp l’oeil slip underlay. Diane paired the advanced Jason Wu dress with black strappy sandals, diamante-embellished Judith Leiber “Slide Lock” minaudiere.

Aside from the gorgeous dress, Diane Kruger also showcased a stunning pair of diamond-encrusted “Nérée” earrings by Repossi. She finished her look with tightly-pulled slick-back hair, glossy light pink lipstick, navy eyeliner, smokey blue and grey eyes, and a hint of metallic silver at the corner of her eyes.

Paz Vega joined Jada Pinkett Smith, Jessica Chastain and their other co-stars at the “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted” premiere during the 65th Cannes Film Festival in France Friday night.

The 36-year-old Spanish actress, who voices the character of Carmen, wore a stunning Stéphane Rolland ensemble (from the Spring/Summer 2012 Haute Couture collection) that featured a white top with a keyhole bodice, a shapely black skirt with cascading ostrich-feathered train, sexy cut-outs all over and a huge black waistband with gold metallic elements.

Paz Vega completed the look with Chopard jewelry, which included a pair of yellow and white diamond earrings set in 18-carat yellow gold, a 21-carat ruby ring set in pink and white diamond pave and 18-carat white and rose gold. She finished off with a bold red lip and loose bun.

Jessica Chastain has been very busy since the 2012 Cannes Film Festival opened the red carpet, promoting her film “Madagascar 3” with other big-named co-stars like Salma Hayek during the first two days, then she began the promotions of her second film “Lawless” at the festival, wearing two different attires at the photocall and premiere.

The 35-year-old actress wore a casual Herve L. Leroux black dress to the photocall earlier in the day on Friday. The Fall 2012 dress featured a v-neckline, multicolored stripes on the bodice, a strappy open back and a pencil skirt. She finished it off with a sexy pair of black patent Giuseppe Zanotti slingback double platform pumps with tiger-printed heels.

At the premiere later that night, Jessica Chastain dazzled in a nude Gucci chiffon gown, which featured gold embellishments throughout the dress and a flowy skirt. She accessorized with a pair of Chopard white diamond cluster earrings and finished off with romantic wavy hair.
